As the Travancore Royal family regained its rights over the Ananthapadmanabha Swamy temple in 2020, Trivandrum came into the limelight again. It has some of the most beautiful temples in the country. These temples are well-known for their elaborate, colourful architecture and a magnet for tourists from all over the globe.

The most famous temples in Trivandrum, Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is dedicated to the dreaming Vishnu, in the posture of Anantha Shayanam. Inside, there are two more shrines dedicated to Krishna and Lord Ugra Narasimha. The temple served as a bank and funder to kingdoms at times of battle and foreign trade.

Apart from this temple, another one situated in the outskirts of Trivandrum city, the temple of Chamundi is known for its architectural elegance. Though the size of the temple is compact, the temple characterizes three different statues of Chamundi Devi; Maha Chamundi, Raktha Chamundi, and Bala Chamundi. It’s a must-visit temple in Trivandrum after the great temple of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy.
