India has been under cultural attack since 700 AD and most of the temples were destroyed purposefully in order to destroy the knowledge and financial status of this nation. According to Sanjeev Sanyal, temples served as banks along with being the centres of knowledge. Even after seven decades of independence from the British Raj, Ancient Temples in India still struggle for their existence.

India’s 21st century Philosopher Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev came up with a unique movement that he highlighted Ancient Temples in this nation are still under Governmental Neglect even though they must be taken care of by them. He started this movement in Tamil Nadu early this year. Thousands of people from across the world, including celebrities and notable figures, joined in to make the hash tags #FreeTNTemples and #SilentSupport among the top trends on Twitter in India by sharing their silent videos.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev tweeted on 31st March about this movement as, “44000 Tamil Temples are in a state of decay. If you share my anguish, take a few moments, shoot a video of yourself standing silently and post on social media. May your silent support ring in the ears of lawmakers and compel them to #FreeTNTemples”
