When we observe some shrines in India, they always bear unique footprints of Legendary Beings who transcended their humanity through bodily ascent.
The Ancient temple of Vishnu Pada located in Gaya on the River Bank Of River Phalgu.
The Temple has a 40 CM footprint said to be of Lord Vishnu. However, A Sage named Gaya used to live here and attained enlightenment.
According to Legend, Gaya has a habit of preaching knowledge to whomever he sees or sees him, regardless of the person’s interest.
He also said to have received that tendency, of not living that knowledge but go on preaching it, that he almost boasted himself to be, whoever sees him, will be enlightened.
It is said that Lord Vishnu, just like Emperor Bali, sent Gaya into the Netherworld by pushing him down with his foot. But to observe closely,
The Name Gaya itself was named after this sage, who left his footprint for humanity to understand where he went.
That actual date of this ancient temple is unknown, dates back to thousands of years that they say Rama visited this place.
Saints like Adi Shankara also visited this shrine. The Current structure was build by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. The temple tower is of Pyramidal shape and 100 feet tall, the sanctum is in the shape of an Octagon.
Such a mysterious temple, isn’t it?
