Until 1955, the temple of Wat Traimit in Bangkok, Thailand was considered a common shrine that houses a clay idol of Buddha, until something miraculous happened.
When the Thai government wanted to demolish the ancient temple that has no proper date of origin, a monk who lives in the temple pleaded not to damage the temple, yet the officials seemed not to listen to him. The Monk prayed and prayed, but on the day of demolishment, when the workmen tried to remove the idol, it cracked and revealed a golden sparkle! With that, the monk started to chisel out the clay idol which later found to be made of pure gold!!!
The origin of this golden idol is unknown but it is said that the monks covered it with clay to hide the idol from foreign invaders. While a great massage has been conveyed that within every individual, be they covered with murk and mire, there lives a golden Buddha, when all the limitations of humanity were peeled off, the Spirit, the God within – The Golden Buddha Within, shines forth its divine brilliance!
Today the shrine attracts many tourists from around the world with this deep message while the golden Buddha stood as the true symbol that conveys the way to enlightenment!
