Every one who’s born in India, somehow knows the miraculous did exist even many western skeptics blatantly argue despite ample proof of many masters like Alvars, Nayanars and Siddha Saints. But Mr Spalding did a wonderful job that even many of the current populace should appreciate and should also be thankful to. After Swami Vivekananda woke the west up with his teachings and his sheer demonstration of Indian philosophy, Mr Spalding was one of the eleven-person research group that travelled in India beginning from 1894. There, the team met the great masters of the Himalayas and observed their daily lives. Mr Spalding and team spent in the far east for three and a half years, researching about the ancient knowledge and manuscripts such as the Surya Siddhantha.
Mr. Spalding published his research notes in 1924 with the title ‘LIFE AND TEACHING OF THE MASTERS OF THE FAR EAST’, later on he published four more volumes of his work under the same title. This set of books now became the pioneering light to the world about the true knowledge of Ancient India. During his visit, Spalding meets great beings who transcended humanity and achieved dominion over the material world. He says that there are many masters in this land that we don’t even know about. The set of books describes Spalding’s travels not only in India, but Also Tibet and China, when he and his team does great adventures while other teams that belong to colonial forces try to stop them.
There is no question, but these people have brought the Light through eras and they by their daily life and works that this Light does exist just as it did thousands of years ago, says Mr. Spalding. Those were the days where India struggled for its independence while the colonial forces were trying to alter the ancient knowledge with their materialistic views and indoctrination. Mr Spalding was of British origin, born in India, settled in America and worked as a mining engineer before getting known by his extensive efforts to revive eastern philosophy in the west. The west tried to label it something as NEW though it is actually ANCIENT.
Spalding’s birth place, as he wrote in the book, was Cocanada of Madras Province, which is Present Day Kakinada, Andhrapradesh. This indeed makes Mr. Spalding a Master from the far east who enlightened the west. Spalding spent his childhood at Cocanada and later went to Calcutta for further studies, there he got acquintained with Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, the same he mentions in the book. Then he went to America and returned in 1894. Today we have lots of philosophical books written by western authors but Without Mr. Spalding’s efforts, none of them would have existed, except the ancient texts.
