A Civil suit has been filed to seek the restoration of 27 ancient temples in the Qutub Minar complex. The court has adjourned the hearing till the 27th of April.  The suit filed on behalf of Lord Vishnu, Tirthankar Lord Rishabh Dev and others through advocates Hari Shankar Jain, Ranajna Agnihotri and Vishnu Shankar Jain.

According to the suit: In order to preserve and protect the religious and cultural Heritage of India and to implement the right to religion guaranteed by Article 25 and 26 of Constitution of India by restoring 27 Hindu and Jain temples that were destroyed under the command of Qutub-Din-Aibak, a commander of the invader Mohammad Gori, establisher of the slave dynasty and commenced some constructions at the same place of temples renaming it as, Quwwat-Ul-Islam Mosque.

The suit has claimed that according to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), 27 Hindu and Jain temples were demolished and Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque was raised inside the complex reusing the materials of the temples.

The suit declared that the idols of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, Lord Sun, Goddess Gauri, Lord Hanuman, Jain Tirthankar Lord Rishab Dev, must be “restored” as a common right, within the temple complex at the site of Quwwat-Ul-Islam Mosque Complex, Mehrauli, south-west Delhi, as the country is a place for equality and diversity.
